Creators keep ownership of what they contribute, every upload is human-reviewed before publication, and imported videos must carry a licence and attribution. If something on Shared Area still infringes your copyright, tell us and we will act quickly.
Report an infringement
Email hello@sharedarea.org with:
- The video's serial number or address (for example sharedarea.org/47);
- The work you own, and evidence or an explanation of your ownership;
- Your name and contact details;
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised and that your report is accurate.
What we do
- We review every valid notice and, where infringement is likely, remove or disable the content promptly — normally within 7 days, faster where clear-cut.
- The contributor is told why and may respond with evidence of their rights. If they do, we review again before any reinstatement.
- Accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed.
Imported content
Where a video was imported from a platform such as YouTube or Vimeo, we host a copy under the licence declared by the submitter, with attribution shown beside the video. If you are the rights holder and do not agree, use the process above — declared licences do not override your actual rights.
Wrongful reports
Deliberately false reports waste a small charity's time and may themselves be unlawful. Please only report content you genuinely believe infringes your rights.
