Safeguarding

How we keep all content safe for viewers of any age.

Content Safety

At Shared Area, keeping learners safe is our highest priority. We believe every learner, regardless of age, deserves to access educational content in a secure, supportive environment.

Our core safety principle: All content must be appropriate for learners of all ages. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Every piece of content on the platform — whether video, audio, or written material — is reviewed before it becomes publicly available. This ensures that everything you find on Shared Area has been checked for safety, accuracy, and suitability.

Verifier Oversight

Our verification system is the foundation of trust on Shared Area. Here's how it works:

Content is Submitted

Creators upload educational videos along with supporting materials. All new content enters a verification queue and is never visible to the public until it has been approved.

Verifiers Review

Qualified teachers and specialists review every submission. They check that content is accurate, high quality, and appropriate for all ages.

Verifiers are Validated

Verifiers themselves are validated through institutional email addresses or manual review by charity administrators. This ensures only qualified individuals are approving content.

Content Goes Live or Gets Feedback

Approved content becomes publicly available. If changes are needed, the creator receives constructive, supportive feedback to improve their submission.

No exceptions: All newly uploaded or recorded audio and video must be verified before becoming public. This rule applies to everyone, with no exceptions.

Our Positive-Only Rating System

We use a positive-only rating system to maintain a supportive, encouraging environment for all content creators.

1 Star = Good

⭐⭐

2 Stars = Very Good

⭐⭐⭐

3 Stars = Brilliant

⭐⭐⭐⭐

4 Stars = Excellent

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

5 Stars = Amazing

No negative feedback is permitted for content creators. If there is a genuine issue with content, users can use the "Report a Problem" button to alert our team — but our public rating system is designed to be encouraging and constructive only.

There are also no user comments on videos. This keeps moderation manageable and ensures the platform remains a safe, professional environment for all users.

Reporting & Concerns

We make it easy to report problems or raise concerns. Your safety and the safety of all users is our priority.

Report a Problem

A prominent "Report a Problem" button appears under every video. Use this for concerns about inappropriate content, incorrect information, quality issues, or accessibility problems.

Detailed Concerns

For more detailed concerns, you can use our reporting form or email us directly. Anonymous reporting is available.

What happens when you report: All concerns are escalated to our safeguarding team for review and response. We take every report seriously and aim to review all concerns within 24 hours.

Community Assurance

Clear communication of our safeguarding measures builds trust with parents, teachers, and institutions. This reinforces that the platform is safe, reliable, and school-appropriate.

Our crest carries the motto "Safe For Schools" as a constant reminder of our commitment to safeguarding. We are transparent about our verification process and regularly update our safety measures.

We want every parent, teacher, and learner to feel confident that when they use Shared Area, they are accessing a trustworthy, professional education platform.
